Should you mistakenly think that United States of America owns its National Parks and Historical Monuments, please see the photo below which was taken by the Webmaster. This plaque adorns the outside of the Visitors Center in Yosemite National Park, Yosemite, California. The Webmaster, his wife and eldest son were subjected to a high profile stop (lights flashing, multiple Park Ranger vehicles blocking the road, vehicle registration checked by radio call in) and hassled by a very argumentative, “wired” Park Ranger simply because we asked if he new anything about the sign pictured below! He adamantly swore that it wasn’t so and that the United Nations had not made Yosemite National Park a World Heritage Site and that we just didn’t understand! Hummm, maybe he couldn’t read! :-) |
